The Home of Student Journalism at Lesley University

Meet Our New Assistant Editor

The Lesley Public Post is happy to announce the appointment of Samantha Shapiro to the position of Assistant Editor.  Samantha is from Simi Valley, California, and is a second semester junior.  Last semester, she served as a reporter, covering campus news; she also wrote opinion columns.  Asked why she wanted to get involved with the Lesley Public Post, she replied, “I enjoy working on the LPP because it allows me to spread important campus, local and national news to the students at the university. It also allows me to give a voice to issues that need to be addressed on campus, whether in a positive or negative light.”

Looking to her goals for this semester, she wants to continue writing, but also to expand the coverage the LPP provides. She wants to see the newspaper “get more writers to regularly contribute…  It would be great to have more about the sports at the university, as well as different student organizations and various courses that are being offered that are interesting or different than the typical course. (For example, there are the courses that involve going to London and Paris for Spring Break.  Those might be interesting to look into and maybe talk to a student who is enrolled, about their expectations and experiences.”

Editor Emma Spear and I both congratulate Samantha on taking on the role of Assistant Editor.  You will see her byline regularly; and you can also contact her if you have story ideas or want to write for the Lesley Public Post.

  1. Dear Ms. Shapiro,

I publish a magazine for young writers called The Worcester Journal. We are now in our second year, and we receive submissions from all over, including other countries. We would be very interested in submissions from you and your staff. As a nonprofit, we cannot offer remuneration, but we do offer a publishing credit in a handsome, well-regarded magazine. We also have a team of interns performing high-level duties, and will be looking for more in the future.

    Jim Dempsey
